Post-Graduation Outcomes 2023-2024
The University of Cincinnati's College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies, in conjunction with the Office of Institutional Research, presents data on post-graduation outcomes by degree type and by college, to assist prospective students in planning for their future.
We present the percentages of graduates who are employed, not employed, not seeking employment, or continuing their education at the time of data collection, along with the three-year average salary of graduates by degree type and college.
The majority of data are collected between six months to one year after graduation, according to guidelines from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), but outcomes for some students are from the time of graduation, as commencement surveys are used for students with missing outcomes.

About the Data
The majority of data are collected between graduation and one year after graduation, according to guidelines from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), but outcomes for some students are from before graduation, as commencement surveys are used for students with missing information. Commencement/exit surveys can be completed up to 8 months prior to graduation. The Undergraduate Commencement Survey was added in 2019–2020 and the Graduate Exit Survey was added in 2022–2023.
Data Sources:
- Degrees and certificates awarded are based on awards reported by the Office of the Registrar to the Ohio Department of Higher Education on the Degrees and Certificates File.
- Outcome data is collected through a collaboration between the Office of Institutional Research, College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies, Lindner College of Business, College of Law, and College of Engineering and Applied Science. Data sources include wage matches from ODJFS, continuing education data from NSC, Alumni Pathways public profile data, and surveys conducted by CCPS (First Destination), LCoB, CEAS, Law, COM, Graduate College (Graduate Exit), and Registrar (Undergraduate Commencement). Additionally, CCPS career coaches conduct follow‑up work to find missing outcomes using LinkedIn data.
Data Analysis and Reporting Logic:
- Wage matches are only conducted for students who do not have a record of continuing education in the National Student Clearinghouse. A continuing education outcome supersedes an employment outcome.
- Outcomes from ODJFS and the NSC supersede data collected through Alumni Pathways and surveys.
- ODJFS reports wages earned per quarter. Institutional Research annualizes wages by dividing the wages earned within the quarter by weeks worked in the quarter then multiplying by 52 weeks per year.
- Salary data are only provided when salaries are available for at least five graduates. Top employer and continuing education data are not shown if counts per employer or educational institution are < 5.
- Total of Employed + Cont. Education includes Employment (FT/PT), Military Service, Volunteer Service, and Continuing Education.
- It is possible for a student to have more than one outcome IF they earned degrees in multiple terms throughout the academic year.
- If a graduate was found on the National Student Clearinghouse file as continuing education during the year after graduation, they are counted as continuing education even if they have a job. However, if they are continuing education part time and data from ODJFS shows them as having a job, they are reported as employed.
- Knowledge Rate: the number of students who have a known outcome divided by total number of students.
We use the most current definitions per the National Center for Education Statistics' Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) glossary.

| Baccalaureate | An award (baccalaureate or equivalent degree, as determined by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education) that normally requires at least 4 but not more than 5 years of full-time equivalent college-level work. This includes all bachelor's degrees conferred in a 5-year cooperative (work-study) program. A cooperative plan provides for alternate class attendance and employment in business, industry, or government; thus, it allows students to combine actual work experience with their college studies. Also includes bachelor's degrees in which the normal 4 years of work are completed in 3 years. |

| Doctoral - Professional | A doctor's degree that is conferred upon completion of a program providing the knowledge and skills for the recognition, credential, or license required for professional practice. The degree is awarded after a period of study such that the total time to the degree, including both pre-professional and professional preparation, equals at least six full-time equivalent academic years. Some of these degrees were formerly classified as first-professional and may include: Chiropractic (D.C. or D.C.M.); Dentistry (D.D.S. or D.M.D.); Law (J.D.); Medicine (M.D.); Optometry (O.D.); Osteopathic Medicine (D.O); Pharmacy (Pharm.D.); Podiatry (D.P.M., Pod.D., D.P.); or, Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.), and others, as designated by the awarding institution. |
